“The most beautiful act of faith is the one made in darkness, in sacrifice, and with extreme effort.”
The season of waiting for Jesus birth, Advent, is upon the Church. Reflecting on this time we become aware of Jesus’ beautiful act of faith. Before He entered our world He was home in the company of God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and the angels. He chose to leave His family and home and donate Himself to be conceived as a human in the dark, secret womb of a devout and consenting virgin whose earthly habitat was mostly evil and set on destruction. He and His new, human family were subjected to ridicule and grave danger. Both He and His parents sacrificed what they wanted to follow what they understood to be God’s will. Jesus made extreme effort to accomplish this act of faith, fueled by His love of God the Father. And because of His and Mary’s consent to God, we will soon have Christmas.
If not for this beautiful act of faith where would you be today? What would the world be like? How would you live and what would you live for?
